Microsoft Webcam - New High Definition Webcam

Microsoft's new webcam, called the LifeCam Cinema, is the first of its kind to incorporate a picture of a high enough quality to be considered high definition. The 720p wide-screen sensor that is providing innovations to the world of webcam online chatting is creating quite a stir in the world of technology. Savvy webcam users know that the traditional 1.3 megapixel cameras have difficulty cutting out digital graininess, especially when recording in low-light situations. The new Microsoft webcam promises to deliver increased resolution quality in every situation, including low-lighting. Along with the needed drivers on the installation disc, movie making and photo gallery software comes with this new webcam. This helps users edit and upload images and videos to popular social networking sites and video sites like Facebook and YouTube.

As this is still the time during which this innovation is new, it is uncertain when HD video chat will become a widespread method of communicating online. Like any new technological advancement, it takes time to become main stream, both because consumers need time to warm up to the idea of getting another new gadget and because compatibility issues with programs must be ironed out to give the advancement justice in its capabilities. The new Microsoft webcam is leading the way in the category of internet communications and video recording.

Older Microsoft webcam models still available on the market include versatile features like the ability to be compatible with both desktop and laptop computers. Some particular models have the ability to fold flat and come with a carrying case to make them even more portable, a feature that is perfect for laptop owners. The means to be able to record footage anywhere you go and post it on the internet where ever you have an internet connection is revolutionizing the world of communication.

With a Microsoft webcam, you can record any kind of footage you want, whether it is scenic view, conference call, or conversation with your family and friends from another part of the world. You can enjoy the benefits of footage other people have shot even if you do not own a webcam. There are thousands of stations set up all over the world providing live feeds for viewers from every corner of the world.

We believe that the new Microsoft HD webcam will become the standard as consumers demand a better picture and internet connection speeds increase.

HP KQ246AA 8.0 MP Deluxe Webcam Review

I bought three of these because I live in washington and my family lives in california. When my bro and I use it, it works great because we both have cable internet, the picture not that great and there is a little bit of a lag. But all the little extra stuff it can do works great and is very easy to use. I've never had one before and it was pretty easy to figure out how to set it up and work it. I also gave one to my parents but they live out in middle of nowhere and have dial-up. The web cam works in the way that we can see eachother and my parents can hear me but I can't hear them. I'm pretty sure its cuz there internet connection is just soo slow that its causeing problems. Other than that its a good web cam just to say hi to freinds or family every now and then.

I am sad too say i have ZERO review because i have yet too receive my order!! it has been over a month since i placed the order and a week since the last est. delivery date has passed. i have sent two emails since then and have recieved NO response and this is what makes me most upset. i dont know what else to do to get the item i purchased but i am very upset.

Good Basic Webcam - TrevB -
A good basic webcam, I've used for over a year for up to six hours a week (I travel a lot). It's not failed me yet, it adjusts itself well to most light conditions (hotel rooms tend not to have the best lighting). I've not used at it's full resolution as the service I use is Skype and wireless hotel networks dont give the best bandwidth.
The only niggle is with the camera clamp, I'd like to see it lightly spring loaded, but it does work and doesnt fall off (hence only four stars).

HP Deluxe WEBCAM (KQ246AA) does not work with MAC - camera_obscura -
I just ordered this webcam because of the many positive reviews and listings as a MAC compatible cam. It's an intermittent problem, but I'm one of the unlucky MAC owners for whom this camera does not work. It does not power up when plugged into a USB port. Sometimes the blue LED lights for a few seconds, but quickly goes out.

This is a risky cam to order if you're a MAC owner. It may or may not work.

Logitech 2 MP Webcam Pro 9000 with Built-in Microphone Review

This is a fantastic cam for such a tiny amount of money. And OMG! it just keeps getting cheaper and cheaper. I bought mine about 2 years ago, thinking it was a deal @ . Wow! At this price, honestly, look no further.

It can take nearly any lighting situation to produce a clear crisp image.
When your lighting is low it still gives you an unbelievably good image quality for such an inexpensive cam.

I loved mine so much that I've bought one for my elderly parents so we can communicate as though we're in the same room together. We all love it. And it's simple enough that my folks got it going themselves.

At this price you can't go wrong! I can't say enough good stuff about this cam.
And better still, if purchased through Amazon it's shipped for free.
(If they ship it from outside your state there may be a chance that you'll be skipping your state sales tax too! :)

Logitech 2 MP HD Webcam Pro with built-in microphone - Stanton J. Peale - Goleta, CA United States
I purchased the Logitech Webcam for my Apple Mac Pro with OS 10.5.8 because of the promise that it would work well on a Mac, and only had to be plugged in to work. It did. The image is sharp and clear and the self focusing works perfectly. The microphone is sensitive and picks up normal speech flawlessly. I liked the webcam so well that I bought a second one for my PC at home running Ubuntu Linux 10.04. The experience was the same there. I just plugged it into the USB port and it worked. I only had to change a sound preference to enable the microphone. I would buy another and recommend the webcam to a friend.

Great Webcam for Skype - hrngffcr - Tyler, TX United States
I will admit that I don't have a lot of experience with webcams. I wanted to get one to send to my dad so we could have video calls over Skype. This webcam, used with a PC and over Skype, provides a nice clear picture. The area where my dad's computer is is not all that well lit, but the picture is nice and bright and clear. The camera seems sturdy and very adjustable. I bought it refurbished (I recommend this as I have never had a problem with refurbished electronics) so it did not come with a lot of instructions or effects software. I guess you can get that from the website, but all we wanted was a normal clear picture, and this webcam provides that.

PC and Mac useable - Scott H. Irving - Portland, Maine United States
I bought this to first run on a Mac mini with skype. Great video quality. Never used the built in mic. Much more tools with the PC. I do wish they allowed the Mac to record video. That does not seem such a difficult thing to do. But they do not do it. But the Mac Mini allows Virtual PC OS systems. I use Parallels Desktop 5 so the PC abilities are available to me. No bad issues. For the price, I am satisfied!

USB Webcam with Microphone and LED Lights - Metal Finish Review

USB Webcam with Microphone and LED Lights - Metal Finish
This is a quality little camera.Excellant resolution, adjustable focus ring on lens.It is a quality unit and the price is definately right. It loads itself(I use Vista on one PC,Win-7 on the other),thus no software to bother with.I use it for Skype, and it is perfect for that.It is adjustable for elevation and angle by loosening the wing nut on the shaft, and also collapses for storage.I reinforced the box it comes in with shipping tape, and keep it in there. It is very stable on a nice base.It is attractive in it's all-metal,chromed body. The lights can be controlled by a roler switch on the cord.I tested it with the lights off, usding a 7w.nite light, and even then,it performed admirably.

USB Webcam with Microphone and LED Lights - Metal Finish Feature

  • Adjustable webcam base and head, with 6 LED lights
  • Connects via USB (cable included)
  • Built-in microphone
  • Great for Skype, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, video conferencing
  • 5 Megapixel

You pay what you get - marlon cortez -
I recommend this camera to anyone who wants a very good resolution and keeping in touch with your peers

Hindered by optics - Thomas Hurst -
This was a quick and cheap solution to make it so I could Skype with a friend, but turned out to be wholly useless.

In my experience, the zoom on this webcam made it completely impossible to have it any reasonable distance away and still pick up useful video. People really only saw my nose and mouth most of the time. I tried my best to adjust the focus and zoom on the camera itself, but nothing really fixed the issue. I should note that this webcam was being used on an Ubuntu Linux computer, so that may be an external source of the issue.

Otherwise, build quality was surprisingly good, and the microphone seemed to function just fine.

But because of the zoom problem this is doing just fine as a nice USB light for the functioning webcam I had to buy later. (Logitech C200)

I'd also like to note that this is a analog microphone that has a separate plug (3.5mm headphone plug), in conjunction with the USB for the webcam, just something to keep in mind when planning for it.

Amazing quality - Nahte Boii -

HTC Evo 4g iPhone allegory allotment 4

One thing I forgot to mention is carrier choice. You're stuck with only AT&T if you want an iPhone. If you go to Phandroid.com and click their "Phones" link, you'll see the vast variety in phone choice and carrier choice. It might not be enough to make people swear off the iPhone 4, but it's definitely something you'll want to consider when making your decision. Really sorry about the audio. I kept forgetting the mic was attached to the webcam which was right in front of me This video was shot using my Microsoft Lifecam Cinema at 720p

Microsoft Lifecam Cinema - A Consumer Review

There are two reasons that I use a webcam and have switched from a Logitech webcam to a Microsoft Lifecam Cinema. First and foremost, I use it for work-related tasks. I hold webinars and create video tutorials for my customers using my Lifecam. Secondly, I use the web cam for personal reasons - since all of my family has moved to other states, it's nice to be able to chat video live streaming video chat with my loved ones.
The Microsoft Lifecam Cinema has an auto focus feature, which I enjoy. That way if I move, or if one of my kids comes into the picture, it readjusts to deliver a crisp, clear picture.
This particular Lifecam model also includes a noise-canceling microphone, which is optimal for my work videos because my customers can't hear the sounds of my pets or kids in the background.
In order to use the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema, you have to either have Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or an Apple MacOS X 10.2 and up. It comes with a warranty of 3 years, which is nice. I haven't owned mine that long, but I haven't had any problems yet and don't foresee any.
I like to use my Lifecam with Skype, because I have a mentor who coaches me and I work with others who I tutor in online sessions as well. The Skype video chat system works perfectly with the Lifecam software.
One thing I liked it that the stand fit snugly on my PC. I've had other web cams that struggled to stay atop my PC, falling off with the slightest nudge, and when you have kids and pets in the house, it has to be secure.
In order to use the MS Lifecam Cinema, you're going to need a CD-ROM drive plus 1.5 GB of space available. Once you have it installed, you're going to be amazed at how crisp and clear the image is and how great the sound quality is.
I was impressed with the widescreen image it captures. Most webcams only give a tiny 4:3 shot. When doing tutorials, if I have a whiteboard that I need to show, or another prop, this comes in handy.
Another thing that's important to me with the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema is that I don't have a lot of professional lighting in my home. In fact, it's quite dim. Yet the Lifecam captured the image and produced it as if I had way more lighting than I really did.

Microsoft LifeCam Cinema

Microsoft LifeCam there Microsoft makes. My first was the LifeCam NX-6000 and I've been upgrading ever since.
I have been using a VX-7000 for the last year and it's a fine webcam. Best I've used, really, until now. I just picked up a LifeCam Cinema HD on Interwebs for ~US$60.
First, a quick disclaimer. While I work for Microsoft, I don't know anyone in this group and in this instance, I'm just a dude with a credit card and a camera. Any speculation here is mine and any mistakes are mine.
Ok, this is a really tiny camera. I think it was the barrel-shape of the glass lens mounted on the base but I pictured this thing as huge. It's not. It's petite. It feels nice as well. It feels well engineered, not cheap. It also has a nice little feat of engineering on the USB cable - a cable tie that actually works! Miracle of miracles.
